The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment says it has not implemented any project under the name GDPX that issues tokens, calls for app downloads, or participates in digital asset trading. The ministry is coordinating with relevant authorities to handle the matter in line with regulations.
In recent days, promotional content advertising an app named GDPX has appeared on platforms including YouTube, TikTok, and various online forums. The posts urge users to download the app, register an account to receive tokens, and participate in trading, claiming a link to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment.
The information has spread rapidly, drawing significant attention—particularly among young people.
Citizen Nguyen Manh Cuong (Ninh Binh) submitted a question to the Government Portal to verify whether the GDPX promotion is authentic. Reports indicate that many videos and articles use images, logos, and even documents bearing red seals from state agencies to build trust.
The content often includes invitations to receive token rewards, check in, complete tasks, and suggests that rewards can be converted into money.
Some circulating images also attribute documents to authorities, referencing an agricultural product origin tracing system and mentioning the GDPX platform. Meanwhile, the app is promoted with features such as points accumulation, conversion of DP, referral codes, “free mining,” and withdrawals after KYC—details that could mislead users into believing it is an official government program related to digital transformation in agriculture.
Mr. Nguyen Van Long, Director of the Department of Science and Technology (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), said the information circulating online is not true. The ministry has not implemented any GDPX project involving token issuance, app download promotion, or digital asset trading, and is working with authorities to address the issue according to regulations.
Experts warn that using the credibility of a government agency to promote unverified apps or projects is a serious concern. As Vietnam continues completing its legal framework for digital assets and blockchain, reward–token trading models are associated with risks including fraud, misappropriation of assets, and improper collection of personal data.
Experts note that these schemes often use invitation codes and initial token rewards to attract users, then encourage participation through tasks, check-ins, or deposits. Once enough users join, the platform may change policies, restrict withdrawals, or disappear—leading to user losses.
Authorities recommend that the public be cautious with online advertising, especially content tied to government agencies or technology trends such as blockchain and digital assets. Users should not rush to download apps, provide personal information, complete KYC, or engage in financial trading without clear verification.
When suspicious signs are detected, citizens are advised to proactively report to authorities so checks can be conducted promptly, helping prevent exploitation and protect their rights.
