Airfares have risen as travel demand during the 30 April holiday continues to grow, supported by new carriers and increased flight frequencies from international partners. Based on airlines’ planned operations, Noi Bai International Airport (Hanoi) expects passenger numbers and flight activity in the peak 30 April period this year to increase by about 10–15% versus the regular schedule.
On the peak day, 29 April 2026, Noi Bai expects to handle 652 flight movements, up 9.4% from the normal level and unchanged versus the same period in 2025. Passenger throughput is estimated at 113,631 travellers, up 15% versus normal operations and 12.4% higher than the same period last year.
A Noi Bai representative said that while broader market fluctuations in supply and fuel costs have led to some service reductions, the airport continues to see steady growth, particularly from new airlines and increased frequencies with international partners.
To manage the holiday peak, Noi Bai will raise security to Level 1 from 29 April to 4 May 2026. The airport will keep 98 check-in counters at Terminal 1 and 144 at Terminal 2, including 48 new counters from the Terminal 2 expansion project. The baggage handling system, with 16 baggage carousels and 122 aircraft parking positions, will operate at full capacity.
The airport will coordinate with immigration authorities to maximize screening machines, increase patrols, manage traffic flow, and implement automated toll collection at all entry/exit lanes to prevent congestion. Noi Bai will deploy 100% of staff at passenger-facing positions and maintain 24/7 operations, while urging ground-handling, transport, and non-airline service units to expand service capacity.
Noi Bai advises passengers to check in online or use biometric verification via VNeID to reduce waiting times. Passengers are also urged to arrive at the airport at least 2 hours before domestic flights and 3 hours before international flights, as Level 1 security checks may extend processing.
The airport said the rate of random visual checks of passengers and carry-on baggage will increase during this period. Noi Bai also cautions passengers not to entrust belongings to strangers and to notify staff if they notice suspicious or unattended baggage.
