According to information from the Hanoi Police Investigation Department, Bao Tin Minh Chau has caused more than VND 150 billion in damages to the State Budget.
The investigative agency said the company’s legal representative was transferred from Mr. Chau to Ms. Pham Lan Anh on October 28, 2024. Ms. Lan Anh currently serves as Director and legal representative of the company.
Mr. Vu Minh Chau founded Bao Tin Minh Chau in 1989 and, for many years, has served as General Director and legal representative. The company operates in the production and trading of gold and jewelry in Hanoi.
In addition to Mr. Chau, investigators have charged three more defendants: Vu Minh Tu and two company accountants.
Initial investigation results indicate that before 2024, Mr. Vu Minh Chau and Vu Minh Tu directed the accounting department to use two software systems to manage and declare information. The Hivi Gold and Hivi Gold Pro systems, along with Excel, were used to monitor actual business activities, while the Misa accounting software was used to declare taxes.
From the latter half of 2024, investigators found that Mr. Chau ordered the deletion of all data on the Hivi Gold and Hivi Gold Pro systems to avoid scrutiny by authorities. The company then switched to Excel and the Fox AI sales software to manage operations. The data was compiled and later uploaded to the Misa system for tax declaration.
Recovered data for 2020 to 2023 shows that the company’s actual revenue was about VND 13.7 trillion, compared with a tax-reported figure of VND 9.713 trillion. Investigators said this resulted in a loss to the State Budget of about VND 150 billion.
Financially, Bao Tin Minh Chau registered capital of VND 100 billion in 2018, with Mr. Vu Minh Chau holding more than 90% of the shares. The remainder was contributed by Mr. Vu Phuong Nam, Chau’s eldest son, who currently serves as deputy director. Mr. Chau has been General Director and legal representative since the company’s establishment.
By mid-2024, the company increased its capital to VND 300 billion, with Mr. Chau owning nearly 97%. In October 2024, the role of legal representative was transferred to Ms. Pham Lan Anh (born 1976), the company’s director.
Earlier, on the afternoon of March 25, police worked at three company facilities in Hanoi. Some stores temporarily suspended trading for verification, then reopened from noon on March 26. The company said it would continue to operate and protect the rights of customers, partners, and employees.
During searches, authorities seized VND 23.3 billion in cash, seven land-use certificates, along with many documents and items, and a large quantity of gold and silver.
The case is still being investigated by the Hanoi Police’s Investigation Agency.

Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise.
