On April 28, Vietlott, the national lottery operator under the Ministry of Finance, announced that the Jackpot 1 Power 6/55 draw 1,333 prizes valued at nearly 92 billion dong was won by Mr. D.T. (Ninh Bình province). Mr. D.T is a businessman operating a private enterprise in his locality. He is a Mobifone subscriber and purchases lottery tickets through the Vietlott SMS app. Mr. D.T has been buying lottery since the first days after Vietlott launched in Vietnam; his usual selections include Power 6/55, Mega 6/45, and Lotto 5/35. Regarding his number selection, he said for each product he builds his own favorite number sets and maintains these sequences for a long period, believing they bring luck to him and his family. He intends to use the prize money to invest in business activities and to support people in difficult circumstances, and to save for the future. He has also donated 1 billion dong to the Tam Tai Viet social welfare fund. Under the regulations, he is required to pay personal income tax of nearly 9.2 billion dong (10% of the prize value) to the Ninh Bình provincial budget, the locality where he participated in the draw, and this tax is withheld when receiving the prize.
