CoW Swap said it paused protocol activity after attackers hijacked the DNS records for its main frontend at swap.cow.fi. The team warned users to stop interacting with the site and later confirmed the issue began at 14:54 UTC.
CoW Swap said the incident affected the frontend domain rather than the protocol’s smart contracts. As a precaution, the company paused its backend and APIs even though they were not directly impacted.
CoW Swap urged users who interacted with swap.cow.fi after 14:54 UTC to revoke approvals immediately. The team also recommended that users revoke all approvals made on CoW Swap after 14:54 UTC, noting that tools such as revoke.cash can help with this process.
CoW Swap said the episode was serious because it exposed a weakness in the interface rather than a contract exploit within the protocol itself. While core infrastructure may remain intact, a compromised frontend can still turn routine wallet interactions into a direct security risk for users who sign the wrong transaction.
