Deere & Company (NYSE: DE) said it has reached a settlement agreement to resolve multidistrict “right to repair” litigation pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. The settlement addresses issues raised in a 2022 complaint and brings the case to an end with no finding of wrongdoing.
As part of the settlement, Deere will deposit funds into a class settlement fund. The funds will be distributed to class members under a court-approved distribution plan and will be used to cover administrative and legal fees.
Deere also said it will continue supporting customers and other service providers with access to repair resources, including tools, manuals, and diagnostic software.
Denver Caldwell, vice president, Aftermarket & Customer Support, said the company is committed to providing customers and service providers with access to repair resources as it continues to innovate equipment and technology solutions supported by its dealer network. Caldwell added that the resolution allows Deere to move forward while remaining focused on serving customers.
Caldwell also referenced John Deere Operations Center™ PRO Service, describing it as designed to enhance customers’ ability to care for their equipment “how and when they want,” and said the settlement reaffirms Deere’s commitment to customer choice and access to the tools that enable it.
The settlement remains subject to approval by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
