Forest Onsen, a therapeutic mineral hot springs complex at Eco Retreat, spans 1,800 square meters and features 20 pools and mineral soaking jars, alongside spa facilities and dedicated therapy rooms. The complex uses modern mineralization technology and imports mineral water directly from Japan to recreate a Japanese onsen experience for residents living in Ho Chi Minh City’s urban environment.
Forest Onsen is located within Eco Retreat, a 220-hectare urban mega-development on the western gateway of Ho Chi Minh City, about a 30-minute drive from Bach Dang Wharf. The project is developed by Ecopark’s founder.
Onsen Clubhouse offers a range of steam therapy rooms, including dry steam, wet steam, snow steam, and a salt stone bath. It also includes indoor and outdoor soaking pools such as silk soak, jar soak, Jacuzzi, foot baths, and a cold bath at 15°C. In addition, the complex provides onsen mineral baths at 38–42°C, as well as a dedicated children’s soak.
The standout feature is the snow steam room, which operates at temperatures ranging from -10°C to 5°C. The room uses a snow-making system to deliver the experience of snow therapy despite southern heat.
According to the complex’s program description, combining hot and cold soaking with snow massage therapies is intended to stimulate the peripheral nervous system to boost immunity, reduce stress, speed recovery after activity, improve blood circulation, relax muscles, firm skin, strengthen the immune system, reduce body fat, boost testosterone, relieve pain, and reduce inflammation.
Forest Onsen also includes a Himalayan salt stone room with salt blocks on the wall. The room is designed to emit heat that releases negative ions. Operating at 45–60°C, it is kept dry so salt particles can diffuse into the air, which the complex says supports respiratory cleansing, toxin elimination, and pore cleansing.
Mineral bathing is presented as a core element of the complex’s health concept. Forest Onsen’s developers say they brought a hot-spring soaking model paired with Japanese-grade spa therapies so residents of Eco Retreat and nearby areas can access care programs based on mineral springs.
The mineral baths use modern mineralization technology and continuous circulating filtration to remove impurities and maintain water quality during peak usage. Multiple mineral streams are used to support growing demand for health care among residents.
The Yufuin Onsen stream is named after the Japanese resort town and uses minerals imported directly from Japan. It is described as an alkaline hot bath that softens skin and helps clean oils and metabolites. Known as “Bijin no Yu” (Beauty Bath), it is said to support exfoliation, soften skin, and balance surface acidity, and is marketed as beneficial for nerve, muscle, and joint pain and fatigue.
Nyuto Onsen is named after Nyuto mountain near Nyuto village in Akita. It uses Nyuto minerals imported directly from Japan and is described as an alkaline hot water bath with a high amount of bicarbonate salts. The complex says it softens skin and helps flush fats and secretions for a refreshing bath.
Hakone Onsen is located in western Kanagawa and is described as being formed by volcanic activity of Hakoneyama over 400,000 years. The complex says it uses alkaline minerals imported from Japan.
Onsen Clubhouse also offers multiple mineral soaking options, including the ne-yu bath (lying-down bath). Unlike standing or seated baths, the ne-yu pool is only 15–20 cm deep, allowing guests to lie back for extended soaks without overheating. The posture is described as relieving gravity pressure on the spine and joints, relaxing the muscular system, stabilizing blood pressure, and improving circulation.
A dedicated children’s bath is kept at a moderate temperature of around 35°C, using mineral-rich, unscented water intended to boost immunity without skin or eye irritation.
Forest Onsen is positioned not only as a mineral experience but also as a tranquil lifestyle space for residents. The landscaping is inspired by Zen Tropical design and connects from level 1 to 5A via an elevator. The complex also includes areas such as a saltwater electrolytic pool, and wellness amenities including a gym and yoga.
Accommodation options are designed to match different needs, with apartment types ranging from 38m2 to 200m2, including studios, 1- to 3-bedroom apartments, duplexes, dual-key units, and penthouses.
