After a trial in Ho Chi Minh City, Grab Vietnam has launched a pilot of the GrabCar Pet service in Hanoi, expanding the service to meet rising demand for transporting pets and to provide a more convenient travel experience for passengers and their animals.
GrabCar Pet is deployed with safety standards and an enhanced user experience. All driver-partners participating in the service have been trained to help ensure passengers travel safely with their pets. Every GrabCar Pet trip is covered by Grab’s compensation policy, and insurance policies apply depending on timing for incidents related to pet injuries or vehicle-related incidents.
The service currently applies to users traveling with dogs and cats. In both Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, users can select GrabCar Pet in the GrabCar category and choose between four-seat and six-seat vehicles based on their needs.
Nguyen Hong Linh, Director of Mobility at Grab Vietnam, said: “Grab continues to expand its services and research to deliver optimal solutions for users, including those with very specific needs. For pet owners, we see they face difficulties moving with their pets due to limited vehicle options on the market. The launch of GrabCar Pet helps users actively book a car whenever needed, and enjoy a smoother, more comfortable journey with their pets. At the same time, this service opens up additional income opportunities for driver-partners by attracting pet-owner riders, helping increase the number of rides.”
Grab Vietnam began piloting GrabCar Pet in Ho Chi Minh City (excluding Ba Ria - Vung Tau and Binh Duong) in January this year.
According to statistics from the pilot through March 2026, the service recorded a high satisfaction rate among users, with 97% of trips rated 5 stars out of the total number of GrabCar Pet trips with ratings.
Usage patterns also indicate repeat demand: on average, a user placed 2 GrabCar Pet rides, and some users have used the service up to 10 times. Additionally, for every 5 GrabCar Pet trips, one trip includes pickup/drop-off at pet care or veterinary facilities.
Grab said these figures show the service is meeting a real market need and has been positively received by users.
