On 27 April, the People’s Committee of Lâm Đồng Province and Sun Group held a groundbreaking ceremony for Phan Thiết Civil Airport, the civil aviation component of the project.
The airport is located in Mũi Né Ward. Total investment is over VND 3,900 billion, covering an area of nearly 75 hectares. The project is planned to meet the 4E standard to accommodate modern wide-body aircraft.
Phase 1 design capacity is about 2 million passengers per year. The project completed investment procedures and broke ground in just five months, with completion expected within two years.
The passenger terminal is the central component, covering 18,000 m² and designed to draw inspiration from Cham culture.
The aircraft stands include 6 positions, capable of handling both wide-body aircraft (Code E) and narrow-body aircraft (Code C). The stands are connected directly to the terminal via a taxiway network.
The air traffic control tower is 45 m high and is equipped with an AWOS weather monitoring system and modern navigation equipment to support safe operations.
Technical infrastructure—including power, water, internal airport access, and security—is planned to be invested to international standards.
The airport is designed to serve regular domestic flights and can accommodate irregular international flights, creating the possibility of welcoming international travelers directly to Mũi Né – Phan Thiết.
Once operational, the airport is expected to shorten travel times from Hà Nội, Hồ Chí Minh City, Đà Nẵng and other major tourist destinations, supporting efforts to attract more domestic and international visitors.
From a broader perspective, the project is positioned as an important addition to the aviation network of the South Central region, strengthening connectivity with the southern economic hub.
The Phan Thiết Civil Airport project is the third airport investment by Sun Group. Previously, the group invested in and operates Vân Đồn International Airport, operates Phú Quốc Airport, and is expanding Phú Quốc Airport to serve APEC 2027.
