According to data from the Ha Tinh Department of Industry and Trade, the province’s export value in April 2026 reached USD 132.5 million, up nearly 26% from the previous month. The four-month cumulative total stood at USD 503.38 million, up 10.58% year-on-year compared with the same period in 2025.
In the export structure, the steel and steel ingots product group continues to lead, accounting for more than 85% of total export value. In April 2026, exports of this group reached USD 113.5 million, up 20.39% from March. For the four months combined, steel and steel ingots exports reached USD 429.25 million, up 12.49% year-on-year.
The results are mainly attributed to Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Co., Ltd.’s market-expansion strategy, including signing several large orders in international markets. The enterprise has also increased technology investment and improved product quality to meet increasingly stringent standards from foreign partners.
Alongside steel, Hà Tĩnh’s textile and garment industry also recorded positive growth. In April 2026, textile and garment exports reached USD 12.63 million, up nearly 30% from the previous month. The effective use of free trade agreements such as EVFTA and CPTPP is helping enterprises expand their share in major markets including the United States and Europe.
In the wood processing group, wood chips exports—after a lull earlier in the year—have started to recover. In April 2026, wood chips exports rose nearly 43% month-on-month, supported by efforts to seek new partners in addition to the traditional Chinese market.
The transformation in export enterprises’ growth model is becoming more evident. Instead of relying primarily on output volume, companies are focusing on improving quality and increasing product value through technology investment and process optimization. Brand building, ensuring delivery schedules, and maintaining credibility with international partners are also prioritized.
Against the backdrop of potential global economic volatility, particularly the risk of supply-chain disruption, Hà Tĩnh enterprises have proactively diversified input sources, reduced risks, and improved adaptability.
For 2026, Hà Tĩnh targets export turnover of USD 2.2 billion, up about 10% from 2025. The results achieved in the first four months are described as providing a favorable foundation for growth in the remaining months.
According to leaders of the Department of Industry and Trade, going forward, the department will continue to closely monitor production and business conditions and promptly address difficulties faced by enterprises. It will also complete the Trade Promotion Plan for 2026–2030, coordinate trade-connect conferences, support enterprises in seeking markets, and expand export opportunities.
