On the afternoon of April 27, during a meeting with General Secretary and President To Lam and the central delegation, Tran Luu Quang, a Politburo member and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, pledged that Ho Chi Minh City would achieve two-digit growth in 2026.
Speaking at the session on behalf of the city leadership, Secretary Tran Luu Quang expressed gratitude for the attention from General Secretary and President To Lam, as well as from party and state leaders, to the city.
He said the directives would serve as an important basis to finalize the city’s program and action plan and ensure the effective execution of development tasks.
According to the city secretary, although Q1 2026 results were modest, they carry important significance in the context of the city operating under a new model and expanding its development space.
In the coming period, Ho Chi Minh City will focus on resolving long-standing shortcomings and will proactively respond to external risks, while improving governance and administration.
The city secretary said that, in the near future, with the completion of the Politburo’s resolution on the city’s development in the new era, the comprehensive city development plan, and the National Assembly’s approval of the Special City Law—together with existing action programs—the city will have the necessary conditions for breakthrough development.
The remaining issue, Tran Luu Quang said, is action and effective action, carried out in a sustainable manner with measurable results.
Secretary Tran Luu Quang pledged that Ho Chi Minh City would meet the targets set by the city at the highest level and achieve two-digit growth in 2026.
The city also aims to reach budget revenue of about one quadrillion dong in a sustainable manner, gradually reducing dependence on land revenue and expanding other resources.
Despite facing pressures from heavy tasks, city leaders affirmed their confidence, citing the continued attention of General Secretary and President To Lam and support from central leaders.
