Appraisal results for two white Hermès handbags owned by Truong My Lan have been announced by the Ho Chi Minh City Civil Enforcement Agency (THADS).
Previously, THADS officials signed a contract with Thinh Vuong Real Estate Valuation and Investment to appraise the two Hermès handbags: one white Hermès bag, size 25, with white stones on the lock and border; and one white Hermès bag, size 30, without stones or materials on top.
According to the appraisal certificate, the size-25 white bag is valued at more than VND 1.7 billion, while the size-30 white bag is valued at more than VND 2.3 billion.
The notice states that within five working days from receipt of the notice (or valid service), the debtor or the person obligated to satisfy the asset may request a re-appraisal once and must pay the estimated re-appraisal costs immediately.
The debtor or obligated party may agree to select an auction organization to sell the asset. If no re-appraisal is requested and no auction organization is chosen by the deadline, the enforcement officer will sign a contract with an auction organization to sell the asset in accordance with regulations.
As reported, on Jan 28 THADS completed the seizure of the two white Hermès handbags. The working session began at 8:30 AM on Jan 28, with THADS officers, a representative of the People’s Procuracy of Ho Chi Minh City, and other relevant authorities; Truong My Lan was absent.
THADS then identified and selected the organization to appraise the two handbags as described above.
Earlier, in the second-instance trial in October 2024, Lan requested the court to return the two handbags. Lan testified that during the investigation many personal items were seized, including two white Hermès handbags—one purchased in Italy and the other reportedly gifted by a Malaysian tycoon.
In the judgment, the first-instance court continued to seize the two white handbags, finding they originated from crime proceeds and other assets. The appellate ruling in June 2025 determined that the two bags were Lan’s assets sourced from crime proceeds, upholding the continued seizure of the assets.
