In the first quarter of 2026, Hoa Phat Group produced 3.3 million tonnes of crude steel (pig iron), up 25% year-on-year and up 8% from the fourth quarter of 2025. Steel product sales volume—including construction steel, high-grade cold-rolled steel, hot-rolled coil and steel billets—reached 3.0 million tonnes, rising 26% year-on-year.
Among steel product categories, construction steel and high-grade cold-rolled steel reached 1.4 million tonnes, up 20% from Q1 2025 and up 8% from the previous quarter.
For hot-rolled coil (HRC), sales volume exceeded 1.4 million tonnes, increasing 48% year-on-year. Domestic consumption of HRC accounts for nearly 80% of demand, with the remainder exported. Hoa Phat has exported HRC to 20 countries and territories across Asia, Europe, the Americas and Africa.
Hoa Phat also supplies processed steel products to domestic and export markets. In Q1, the group supplied:
Steel pipes and galvanized sheets were up 30% and 19% year-on-year, respectively. Prestressed steel and wire-rope products reached over 62,000 tonnes, up 63% year-on-year.
Hoa Phat maintains Vietnam’s No.1 market share with 36% and is present in more than 45 countries and territories across five continents. Hoa Phat steel has been used in projects including the expansion of Tan Son Nhat Airport and Phu Quoc Airport, the US Embassy in Hanoi, and major infrastructure such as the North–South Expressway, the Long Thanh–Dau Giay Expressway, and My Thanh 2 Bridge. The company’s steel is also used in pedestrian bridges over the Saigon River and new bridges over the Red River, including Tran Hung Dao Bridge and Ngoc Hoi Bridge.
Hoa Phat is Southeast Asia’s largest steel producer, with capacity of 16 million tonnes of crude steel expected by the end of 2026. More than 60% of output is high-grade steels serving sectors including mechanical engineering, automobile manufacturing, shipbuilding, oil and gas, household goods, structural steel and energy.
The company is also described as the only Vietnamese enterprise investing in HRC production. Hoa Phat is progressing with a project to build a railway steel and special steel plant at Quang Ngai’s Dung Quat Economic Zone. Three months after groundbreaking, the plant is 35% complete, and it is expected to begin producing railway steel in 2027 to serve Vietnam’s key railway projects and export to international markets.
