With the spirit of gratitude, Hue launched a program to erase temporary houses and rebuild the homes for the offspring of those who fought in the resistance and were exposed to toxic chemicals, contributing to improved living conditions and adding motivation to strive. On April 29, the Hue City People’s Committee organized a launch ceremony for the program 'Support to erase temporary housing and dilapidated houses for the offspring of anti-war veterans exposed to toxic chemicals.' Under the plan, the city approved a list of 83 households in need of support with total funding of 3.69 billion VND. Of these, 40 households will receive new houses and 43 households will receive repairs. Implementation will be carried out promptly and in a coordinated manner under the directive of the Prime Minister, with specific tasks assigned to each department and locality. At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Hue City People’s Committee Nguyen Van Manh stressed that Hue is a land with a long revolutionary tradition but also suffered wartime losses, and the aftereffects of chemical agents still affect many generations. Not a few families of the offspring of veterans are living in temporary, dilapidated housing; the program’s implementation will not only improve living conditions but also help ease wartime pain and instill hope for these families. To ensure the targets are met, city leaders require agencies to quickly develop detailed plans, assign responsibilities, accelerate construction, and strive to complete erasing temporary and dilapidated housing for the beneficiaries by July 15, 2026. At the same time, continue to mobilize the whole of society to strengthen solidarity and affection so that the program goes deep and achieves sustainable results.
