Many domestic flight routes are sold out and prices are high during the peak 30/4–1/5 holiday period, as demand for travel to tourist destinations and for returning home rises sharply. Tickets on several routes—including Hanoi to Da Nang, Nha Trang, and Phu Quoc—are either fully booked or priced well above normal.
On the Hanoi–Nha Trang route, Vietnam Airlines offers round-trip tickets at about 7.4 million VND, while VietJet Air prices are about 7.2 million VND (excluding checked luggage). Flights from Nha Trang and Da Nang to Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City toward the end of the holiday period are largely sold out, leaving mainly higher-class seats.
For Hanoi–Phu Quoc on 30/4, direct flights are sold out, with only connecting options available at around 5 million VND per ticket. VietJet has sold out all Business class seats on several routes, with only a few Economy seats left from about 4.2 million VND. Sun PhuQuoc Airways’ direct flights are also sold out, with the cheapest options around 4.6 million VND.
Vietnam Airlines Group (including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines, and Vasco) plans to offer about 1.12 million seats on domestic and international flights during 30/4–1/5, up 15.5% year over year. On the Hanoi–Ho Chi Minh City–Da Nang corridors, capacity increases by nearly 30% compared with the usual period, while the Hanoi–Ho Chi Minh City segment rises by 12%. Destinations such as Nha Trang and Phu Quoc are expected to see about a 20% increase in flights, while Hue and Quy Nhon rise by more than 5% on average.
“Vietnam Airlines will continue to monitor market demand and adjust operations to ensure safe and stable flight operations, and passengers are advised to book early,” said Nguyen Quang Trung, Deputy CEO of Vietnam Airlines.
VietJet Air plans to add about 500 flights, up 16% year over year. Total seats during the 30/4–1/5 peak period are about 832,000, up 18% from a year earlier. Flights are concentrated on major domestic routes such as Hanoi–Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City–Da Nang, Da Nang–Nha Trang, Hanoi–Phu Quoc, and other routes.
Airlines advise passengers to book early, check in online 24 hours before departure, and use airline apps and national ID verification to speed up processing at airports. The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam will continue to monitor how Middle East tensions affect aviation activity and coordinate slot management during peak periods to support airlines and travelers.
