Millions of pilgrims and visitors are converging on the Hung Temple complex for Giỗ Tổ Hung Vương 2026, with security and order maintained to the highest standards. The Hung Temple site has seen parking facilities overwhelmed, while the main gate to the festival area and the path up to Nghĩa Lĩnh peak are crowded with people moving about.
Phú Thọ police said more than 1,000 officers, along with numerous modern devices, have been deployed to implement comprehensive protective measures. In addition to public forces, hundreds of undercover officers are deployed to patrol and guard around the clock to promptly detect and deter violations.
A new generation of security cameras has been installed at traffic junctions, main routes, and around the Hung Temple to record images, analyze data, and identify suspicious cases. Data are transmitted directly to a command center so authorities can quickly verify and act, helping to safeguard security for the festival season.
Giỗ Tổ Hung Vương – Lễ hội Đền Hùng và Tuần Văn hóa, du lịch Đất Tổ 2026 runs from 17 to 26 April at the Hung Temple National Special Historic Site and in various localities of Phú Thọ. During this period, a series of cultural and sports activities have taken place, attracting wide participation from residents and visitors.
On the eve of the main day, the night of 25 April (the 9th day of the 3rd lunar month), tens of thousands gathered at Văn Lang Park for a high-level 15-minute fireworks display. The fireworks show is described as a spiritual rendezvous and a symbol of peace and prosperity for each pilgrimage season.
On 25 April, at Văn Lang Park lake, the Phú Thọ Swimming Championship 2026 took place with 9 teams and 270 athletes from communes and wards across the area. The teams delivered performances featuring rapid sprints and tight races.
Also on 25 April, the Tam Giang Festival was held at Tam Giang Temple – Đại Bi Bạch Hạc pagoda, drawing many locals and visitors. The ceremony included traditional rites such as processions and offerings, with the water procession described as the festival’s “soul” and a reflection of regional community cultural identity.
That same day, the festival stage within the Hung Temple complex hosted the Festival of Cultural Essence in Martial Arts, drawing nearly 1,000 participants from 41 units, including cultural and athletic clubs from across the mountainous north and the country.
The street folk festival with the theme “Sounds of the Origin” took place on 24 April, staging a lively urban cultural event within Giỗ Tổ Hung Vương – Lễ hội Đền Hùng and Tuần Văn hóa - Du lịch Đất Tổ 2026. As part of the program, 18 culturally themed floats were designed to showcase each locality’s identity, combining folk performances with modern lighting and costumes.
The night festival highlighted the role of the people in creating, preserving, and promoting cultural heritage, strengthening the vitality of living culture in a modern context.
Leading figures from the Party and State offered incense on Giỗ Tổ Hung Vương at Đền Hùng on the morning of 26 April 2026, marking the solemn commemoration of the Hung Kings’ contributions to the nation.
