On the morning of April 6, SJC bullion prices quoted by SJC, PNJ and Bao Tin Minh Chau stood at 170.1 million VND per tael for buying and 173.1 million VND per tael for selling, down 1.4 million VND per tael compared with the end of last week.
Prices for plain gold rings and 99.99% gold jewelry traded by SJC ranged from 169.9 million VND to 172.9 million VND per tael (buy–sell), also down 1.4 million VND per tael.
Other brands adjusted plain ring prices more sharply. Mi Hồng Company sold plain rings at 172.7 million VND, while PNJ sold at 172 million VND.
Meanwhile, plain ring prices for Bao Tin Minh Chau and Bao Tin Mạnh Hải were lower, with buy at 168.1 million VND per tael and sell at 171.1 million VND per tael.
This development was described as surprising because, in previous weeks, plain ring prices for Bao Tin Minh Chau and Bao Tin Mạnh Hải had often traded at parity with SJC bullion prices, or even higher.

At the stated exchange rate, world gold prices were equivalent to about 148.3 million VND per tael.
