Phuong Nam Culture Joint Stock Company (Phuong Nam Bookstore - PNC) has announced the list of candidates for board members for the remainder of the 2022-2026 term. The slate includes four individuals: Ms. Nguyễn Thị Lan, Ms. Hứa Gia Tú, Mr. Nguyễn Đình Thứ, and Mr. Cô Gia Thọ.
Mr. Cô Gia Thọ is currently the chairperson of Thiên Long Group (TLG) and Tân Lực Miền Nam, a subsidiary of TLG. He built his career from a small workshop in 1981 and later developed it into a leading enterprise in writing instruments and office supplies.
Thiên Long is known for its ballpoint pen brand, along with other product lines including Flexoffice office supplies, Bizner premium pens, and Colokit art tools. With early participation in exports, its products are available in more than 70 countries and territories.
TLG invested in PNC through its subsidiary Tân Lực Miền Nam from June 2025, holding 49.49% of shares. At the same time, TLG appointed several senior executives to manage the bookstore chain. Phuong Nam operates nearly 50 bookstores nationwide, largely located in prime positions within shopping centers, books districts, and major tourist-shopping destinations in Ho Chi Minh City.
TLG leadership at the time stated that investing in PNC was part of a strategic effort to develop a new consumer goods category, particularly toys or lifestyle products, which the group had pursued for years.
In early February, Thiên Long restructured its portfolio in affiliated companies and sought to divest from Phuong Nam Bookstore at a price not lower than VND 144 billion. The move came just two months after Kokuyo (Japan) announced plans to acquire Thiên Long and bring it under its subsidiary.
In mid-March, TLG, through its subsidiary Tân Lực Miền Nam, contributed nearly VND 145 billion (equivalent to 99.94% of equity) to establish a new legal entity, Evertrust Investment Joint Stock Company. Mr. Cô Gia Thọ serves as CEO and Chairman of Evertrust.
The new entity was created to hold all of TLG’s shares in PNC. Afterward, Thiên Long plans to seek partners to transfer all shares in Evertrust, targeting a price not lower than VND 144 billion.
Toward the end of March, PNC received resignations from three board members: Ms. Võ Thị Hoàng Quân, Ms. Trần Tuệ Tri, and Mr. Nguyễn Ngọc Trung Chánh.
Ms. Quân had served as strategic director of TLG and was among the senior executives initially proposed to lead Phuong Nam Bookstore following Thiên Long’s acquisition of PNC in mid-2025.
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
