Data from the i-Speed speed testing platform of the Vietnam Internet Center shows that nationwide mobile 5G speeds continued to trend lower for the second consecutive month. Specifically, the average download speed reached 471.23 Mbps, down 86.11 Mbps (about 15%) from 557.34 Mbps in February 2026. Meanwhile, the upload speed fell more sharply, by about 30%, to 97.9 Mbps from 138.9 Mbps last month. For typical tasks, the 5G download speed drop of around 15% this past month hardly makes a difference, such as loading a 1 GB video only about 3–4 seconds slower, or loading a 4K 10 GB movie only about 30–40 seconds longer than before. However, the 30% drop in upload speed may make 5G users notice changes more clearly. Upload times for video uploads, data backups, or livestreams could be longer by 40–50%. By carrier, Viettel continues to lead in 5G quality, although it is not immune to the overall downward trend. The carrier's download speed, after briefly exceeding 600 Mbps in January, has fallen for the second consecutive month, to around 528 Mbps in March 2026. In practice, with an average 5G speed around 470 Mbps, users can watch 4K video with almost no interruption. However, with Viettel's download speed above 500 Mbps, the experience will be smoother and more stable, initial buffering times will be nearly instantaneous, and fast-forwarding or switching content will be smoother, especially on streaming platforms with heavy concurrent usage. Second place, VNPT's 5G speed, though slightly reduced, maintains stable quality over many months (download speeds fluctuating between roughly 290–320 Mbps and uploads around 50 Mbps). Last month VNPT's 5G download speed recorded 290.41 Mbps and uploads 49.42 Mbps. In contrast to the mild declines of the two carriers, MobiFone in March recorded a slight uptick in download speed after three months of fluctuations from a peak of 450 Mbps. Accordingly, MobiFone's 5G download speed reached 192.86 Mbps, about 20.48 Mbps higher than February. Meanwhile, the upload speed remained stable at 36.66 Mbps. The national mobile network performance, in general, also shows a downward trend. The nationwide average mobile download speed fell by more than 30% (about 37.5 Mbps), to 82.54 Mbps; the upload speed also dropped about 30%, to 26.38 Mbps. Viettel remained in the lead but recorded the strongest decline: download speed down nearly 58% (about 135.33 Mbps), to 99.32 Mbps; upload speed also dropped to the lowest in 12 months, at 26.8 Mbps. Conversely, VNPT and MobiFone's network quality remained relatively stable. Accordingly, VNPT's mobile download speed reached 71.05 Mbps and upload 28.06 Mbps. Similarly, MobiFone's download speed was 56.42 Mbps and uploads 22.54 Mbps. Regionally, mobile data speeds in five major cities—Hanoi, Hai Phong, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, and Da Nang—show that 4 of 5 localities recorded declines in mobile speeds in the past month. Notably, Da Nang was the most volatile area, with speeds down more than 468.81 Mbps (over 75%) vs February. Hanoi, Hai Phong and Ho Chi Minh City also saw reductions of nearly 75% (350.34 Mbps), 72% (231.89 Mbps), and nearly 1% (8.78 Mbps). Can Tho was the rare bright spot with speeds up by about 25.46 Mbps.
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
