Nearly 30 hectares of land under the management of the Southern Aviation Authority in Long Thành ward were reclaimed by the Đồng Nai People’s Committee to build and operate warehousing and terminal facilities at Long Thành International Airport.
Under Decision 1717/QĐ-UBND, Đồng Nai reclaimed approximately 15.3 hectares of land that had previously been allocated to the Southern Aviation Authority by the provincial People’s Committee for state management of civil aviation at Long Thành Airport Phase 1.
The Đồng Nai City People’s Committee said the land is being reclaimed to allow Vietnam Airlines-Corporation to lease the site for a project to build and operate warehousing for goods reception and handling numbers 5, 6, 7, and 8 at Long Thành International Airport, as set out in Decision 1632/QĐ-BXD dated 30 September 2025 by the Ministry of Construction.
Separately, under Decision 1719/QĐ-UBND, Đồng Nai reclaimed more than 14.6 hectares of land already allocated to the Đồng Nai City People’s Committee for state management of civil aviation at Long Thành Airport Phase 1, as referenced in Decision 4948/QĐ-UBND dated 28 December 2020.
The stated purpose was to enable Vietnam Airlines-Corporation to lease the land for a project to build and operate goods terminal number 2 at Long Thành International Airport, according to Decision 1630/QĐ-BXD dated 30 September 2025 by the Ministry of Construction.
Earlier, Government Office Announcement 204/TB-VPCP dated 21 April 2026 reported conclusions by Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Gia Túc following a progress-review meeting of the Long Thành International Airport Phase 1 project. The announcement described Phase 1 as a national key project of special significance, drawing attention from party and state leaders, agencies, and international partners.
The Government urged relevant ministries and localities to address bottlenecks and accelerate progress to complete Phase 1 and bring it into commercial operation in 2026.
According to the Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV), a current bottleneck is a shortage of on-site construction labor. While ACV urged contractors to mobilize and increase manpower, as of 14 April 2026 the on-site workforce reached about 8,457 people, equivalent to 60% of the required 14,000.
ACV noted that labor shortages have affected critical schedule packages including the passenger terminal, port infrastructure, and transportation. In addition, shortages of design and supervision personnel in some packages have complicated internal work and overall project payments.
