OpenAI describes GPT-5.5, the company's latest artificial intelligence model, as "the most intelligent and intuitive to date". Just seven weeks after releasing ChatGPT 5.4, OpenAI has unveiled a new model: GPT-5.5. In a press briefing, OpenAI's chairman Greg Brockman said GPT-5.5 has a capacity to "understand problems" more intuitively than previous generations, thereby reducing the need for detailed human guidance. He stressed: "The model can tackle ambiguous problems and reason to determine the next steps", and noted that GPT-5.5 can reason faster and more sharply, while consuming fewer resources than version 5.4. On the blog, OpenAI emphasized: "Instead of tightly controlling every step, users can give GPT-5.5 a complex, multi-layer task and trust the model to plan, use tools, self-check results, address unclear points, and continue until completion." GPT-5.5 is a versatile model, capable of serving many user groups. However, it may be most useful to researchers or those handling advanced tasks such as programming. According to OpenAI, GPT-5.5 scored higher than GPT-5.4 in assessments of interaction with computer applications and solving complex problems. However, the company also notes that although GPT-5.5 marks a leap in intelligence, it does not trade speed for intelligence. Like many technology companies, OpenAI is pursuing the development of systems that act as comprehensive "digital assistants" capable of managing notifications, tracking project progress, and operating across computer environments, rather than being limited to a single application. GPT-5.5 is seen as the most notable step in this direction. On safety, OpenAI says GPT-5.5 integrates cybersecurity protections at the highest level to date, amid rising concerns that network-connected AI systems could detect and exploit vulnerabilities in current Internet infrastructure. GPT-5.5 is now viewed as a foundational component in OpenAI's ambition to build a "super-application" developed from Codex. Meanwhile, OpenAI's AI research activities are increasingly relying on AI tools. Chairman Greg Brockman said the company has used GPT-5.5, together with Codex, to support the core development of these systems. Mark Chen, Head of Research, said in the near term OpenAI's objective is for humans to play the role of "coordinator", with a large portion of research workload assisted by AI at a high level. Currently, GPT-5.5 is being rolled out to Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users on ChatGPT and Codex; the GPT-5.5 Pro version is also available to Pro, Business and Enterprise users on ChatGPT.
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
