Pension payments for May 2026 in Hanoi will be made after the May holiday, with cash and personal-account transfers adjusted because the regular payout date falls on a weekend. Hanoi’s Social Insurance Agency said the schedule change is intended to ensure beneficiaries receive full and timely pension and social insurance benefits without interruption.
Under Vietnam Social Security regulations, monthly pension and social insurance allowances paid via personal accounts are made on the second working day of the month. If that day coincides with a weekend or holiday, the payment date is moved to the next working day.
For the May 2026 payout, the second working day falls on Saturday. As a result, Hanoi’s Social Insurance Agency will shift payments via personal accounts to Monday, May 4, 2026.
In light of the adjusted pension and allowance payment dates, the agency said it has coordinated with the Post to arrange cash payments immediately after transfers are completed.
For cash recipients, people can collect after the holiday starting on May 4.
According to Hanoi Social Security, the April 2026 payout cycle (Phase 1) shows that Hanoi has over 606,800 people on the pension and social insurance allowances list, with more than 604,000 receiving payments via ATM accounts.
The agency said the adjustment for May 2026 is to comply with working-day regulations while ensuring beneficiaries receive benefits on time. It also encouraged residents to continue using personal-account payments to save time, reduce social costs, and improve safety in the payment process, noting that cashless payments help ease pressure on direct payment systems and reduce contact in line with modernization in public services.
