On the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, the Phuoc Khanh Bridge has reached more than 95% of the contracted works and is entering the final completion phase ahead of the long-span linkage in May 2026. According to the Southern Expressway Project Management Board (under the Vietnam Expressway Investment and Development Corporation, VEC), to date, the construction value of Phuoc Khanh Bridge connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province has completed over 95% of the contract scope. Phuoc Khanh Bridge has a total length of over 3.1 km, a cross-section of about 22 m, with the main span of 300 m. Phuoc Khanh Bridge and Binh Khanh Bridge (already completed) are the two most complex components of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway project. Both bridges have a vertical clearance of 55 m, the highest navigable clearance among Vietnam’s bridges to date. It is planned that in May 2026, the bridge will be connected. To ensure progress, during the 2026 Lunar New Year holiday, the contractor maintained over 100 engineers and workers working through the holiday. The Phuoc Khanh Bridge project previously belonged to Package J3 of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway project. However, during implementation, there were several obstacles; the consortium halted construction before package completion. VEC later terminated the J3 package contract and established Package J3-1 as a replacement. The J3-1 package is expected to complete construction by July 2026, making it among the last packages of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway to be completed. Overall, the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway project spans nearly 58 km, starting at the connection with the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong Expressway, and ending at National Highway 51 connecting to Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway, passing through Tay Ninh, Dong Nai and Ho Chi Minh City. Upon completion, the route will connect to major transport axes, helping alleviate traffic congestion and shorten travel time between the East and Southwest regions, while also linking directly to Long Thanh International Airport. Currently, the project has completed construction of 55/57.8 km, of which 30 km has been put into operation. According to the Provincial Project Management Board for Construction Investment, currently contractors on Component 1, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway, and Component 3, Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3 are resuming work after the Lunar New Year 2026 holiday. Specifically, Component 1’s Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway packages will resume on February 23, and Component 3 of Ring Road 3 will resume on February 24.
