On April 6, 2026, Hanoi Police held a press information conference on public security and order outcomes for Q1 2026, and provided additional details about a case involving Bảo Tín Minh Châu Co., Ltd. Colonel Chu An Thanh, Head of the Economics Crime Department of Hanoi Police, shared information related to the investigation and the latest developments.
According to a representative of Hanoi Police, during the investigation into the case at Bảo Tín Minh Châu Co., Ltd., the company used two ledgers to evade taxes. The investigative agency seized numerous documents and the enterprise’s raw gold material.
The police also determined that the company sold gold to the public in the form of promissory notes.
As of now, BTMC continues to operate normally. Hanoi Police stated that they have facilitated operations to ensure residents’ rights. The police also said they have not received any complaints from the public regarding promissory notes to purchase gold.
Regarding the origin of the raw gold material, the investigative agency said it will verify and clarify the origin and handle the matter in accordance with the law.
For people who bought gold, Hanoi Police noted that this is a civil transaction between the customers and the enterprise, and the enterprise must ensure the transaction terms. If the enterprise does not meet requirements, citizens may file complaints or report to the police for investigation.
Previously, on the afternoon of March 25, many police officers unexpectedly appeared at several BTMC gold shops in Hanoi. After that, the outlets closed and halted operations. By around 16:35, police had removed many boxes of documents and equipment from the BTMC gold shop on Tran Nhân Tông Street (Hanoi).
That evening, BTMC issued a press release clarifying information related to the fact that some of its shops in Hanoi halted trading that afternoon. The company stated that all shops would reopen and serve customers normally from 12:00 noon on March 26.
Later on April 6, 2026, BTMC issued additional official information, stating that:
