In the morning session on April 23, prices for gold bars from major brands fell sharply by 800,000 VND per tael on both the buying and selling sides. The selling price returned to the common level of 169.2 million VND per tael, the lowest in the past month.
By the close of the morning session, SJC’s purchase price was steady at 166.7 million VND per tael, while the selling price was 169.2 million VND per tael, down 800,000 VND per tael from the previous session on April 22.
Across four consecutive sessions (April 20–23), SJC gold bars at retailers declined by 1.8 million VND per tael on the buying side and 2.8 million per tael on the selling side. The buy–sell spread was smallest at Mi Hồng, at 1.5 million VND per tael.
Other firms—including DOJI, PNJ, Bảo Tín Minh Châu, Bảo Tín Mạnh Hải, and Phú Quý—quoted SJC gold bars at 166.7–169.2 million VND per tael (buy–sell), down 800,000 VND per tael on both sides.
In the South, major retailers continued to post lower selling prices than others. At Mi Hồng, buy and sell prices for SJC bars also fell by 800,000 VND per tael. By the morning close, the brand quoted 167.5–169.0 million VND per tael.
Ngọc Thâm recorded the mildest adjustment, closing the morning session with SJC gold bars at 166.5–169.0 million VND per tael (buy–sell), down 500,000 VND per tael on both sides.
Prices for 4-number-9 rings fell across brands in the morning session, with the spread between brands widening to 10.2 million VND per tael. In the South, Ngọc Thâm posted the lowest price for 4-number-9 rings.
In the morning of April 22, Ngọc Thâm had the largest buy–sell gap among brands at 4 million VND per tael, while gaps among other brands ranged from 2.5–3.0 million VND per tael. By the morning close, Ngọc Thâm’s 4-number-9 ring buy and sell prices fell by 1 million VND per tael to 156–160 million VND per tael. The brand also recorded a larger adjustment than the market.
Meanwhile, DOJI, Bảo Tín Minh Châu, and Phú Quý were the three brands with the highest selling prices for 4-number-9 rings.
DOJI quoted 4-number-9 Tròn 9999 Hưng Thịnh Vượng rings at 166.7–169.2 million VND per tael at market open (buy–sell). The morning close price remained unchanged. Compared with the April 22 close, DOJI’s gold rings fell 800,000 VND per tael on both sides. It was also the only brand listing buy and sell prices equal to SJC bars.
Bảo Tín Minh Châu and Phú Quý posted 166.2–169.2 million VND per tael for 4-number-9 rings, down 800,000 VND per tael on both sides.
At market open, SJC reduced 800,000 VND per tael on both sides, listing 166.5 million VND buy and 169.0 million VND sell per tael. By the close of the morning session, prices remained stable.
PNJ’s plain gold rings closed the morning session at 169 million VND per tael, while showing the lowest buy price in the market at 166 million VND per tael. These prices held through the morning, down 700,000 VND per tael on both sides.
Bảo Tín Mạnh Hải saw buy and sell prices for 4-number-9 rings fall by 800,000 and 700,000 VND per tael, respectively. At the morning close, the quote stood at 166.2–168.9 million VND per tael.
On the world market, as of 1:00 PM on April 23, spot gold futures fell more than 0.6% from April 22 to around 4,707.5 USD/oz. According to Vietcombank’s rate (including tax and fees), the spread between domestic bullion and world gold price stood at about 18.07 million VND per tael. For 4-number-9 rings, the spread ranged from 7.87 to 18.07 million VND per tael, depending on brand.
The domestic gold price declined sharply after two days of consolidation.
