Texas Instruments Education Technology (TI) announced the launch of the TI-84 Evo Graphing Calculator, the latest addition to the TI-84 series. The company said the device is built to support math instruction from middle school algebra through college and future STEM careers, with upgrades intended to help students see and work with more math at once.
TI said the TI-84 Evo includes a 3x faster processor, 50% more graphing space, and a redesigned keypad. The company described the update as a “deliberate evolution” of the TI-84 platform educators and students have used for decades.
TI also highlighted new and improved math features, including points of interest trace and an improved Lines and Conics app, designed to give students additional ways to engage with concepts without moving directly to answers.
According to TI, the TI-84 Evo features an icon-based menu intended to reduce time spent learning the tool and increase time spent learning math. The company said mathematical expressions are presented in a clear format, with visual icons to help students identify functions more quickly.
TI added that the calculator includes USB-C charging and an evolved interface, aiming to feel approachable for first-time users while remaining familiar to returning users.
TI said the TI-84 Evo is built to be approved for major standardized exams, including the ACT®, SAT®, IB® and AP®. The company stated that students can use the same calculator across classroom practice and testing, emphasizing that familiarity can affect performance.
TI cited research indicating that consistency matters: 94% of teachers and administrators say students perform better on exams when they use the same calculator for assessment, practice and instruction.
TI said the TI-84 Evo is designed for deep, uninterrupted learning as more states restrict cell phones in classrooms. The company referenced a 2025 EdWeek Research Center study in which 81% of teachers and administrators said students are better able to focus on math when using a handheld calculator.
TI described the device as a single-purpose tool engineered for math, adding that it includes no notifications, no social media, and no distractions.
TI said the TI-84 Evo is available in white (standard color), mint, pink, purple, teal, raspberry and silver. The calculator is available for purchase at major retailers and instructional dealers nationwide, with more information available at education.ti.com/evo.
