Thai Nguyen, widely known as Vietnam’s tea capital, is also home to a diverse natural ecosystem of lakes, primeval forests, caves and distinctive historical-cultural sites. The province is developing major lake-based tourism complexes, including Nui Coc Lake and Ba Be Lake, with integrated resort, entertainment and spiritual travel offerings. Other destinations such as Ghènh Chè Lake, Suối Lạnh, Vai Miếu and a network of natural streams are being opened to support ecological tourism, water sports and weekend getaways.
During a Famtrip-Prestrip program organized by the Thai Nguyen Tourism Development and Promotion Center, participants visited the Flamingo project at Nui Coc Lake. Flamingo Maison 108 Nui Coc Lake has a total investment of 5,375 billion VND, while the Tan Thai golf project has investment of over 586 billion VND. Both projects are being rapidly completed with an expected opening and operation in 2027.
Flamingo Holdings is pursuing a green, sustainable tourism development approach for the Flamingo Maison 108 Nui Coc Lake project, the flagship component of the Flamingo Islands Nui Coc Coc mega-development spanning about 250 hectares. The project covers 61 hectares and includes 108 luxury villas positioned along natural terrain to maximize views of the lake, forest and surrounding mountains.
The resort concept, described as “Walless Living,” is designed to reduce the boundary between people and nature. Villas feature open designs, large glass areas, wide balconies, green gardens and rooftop pools, intended to leverage natural light, wind and the surrounding scenery. The project also includes a resort ecosystem connected to Nui Coc Lake, including the Flamingo Yachting Club, described as a global boating club complex with island-themed experiences, outdoor art and wellness services.
EDGE Green Building certification awarded by IFC indicates the project’s sustainability performance. It reports 59% energy savings, 31% water savings and a 22% reduction in embodied carbon in materials, with the aim of readiness for carbon-neutral operations.
Beyond the resort offering, the project is expected to support local socio-economic development by creating jobs in construction, tourism and services. It is also expected to shift Nui Coc Lake tourism from day trips to longer stays, increasing visitor spending.
Thai Nguyen has set a revenue target of 11,000 billion VND for 2026. In Q1 2026, the province welcomed more than 2.6 million visitors, including nearly 80,000 international visitors, and recorded total tourism revenue of 3,604 billion VND.
For 2026, Thai Nguyen targets welcoming 8 million visitors with revenue of around 11,000 billion VND, up about 48% from 2025. The province said it will diversify tourism products and position ecotourism and luxury resort tourism under the brand “Paradise of mountain lakes.”
Tea culture tourism remains a symbolic feature, supported through experiences of tea production processes, tea appreciation art, and tea-related festivals and events. The province is also working to attract financially capable investors to eco-tourism combined with history, culture and spirituality. Key areas include the Nui Coc Lake tourist area, the eastern slopes of Tam Dao, tea culture zones and the An Toàn Khu national special site.
Thai Nguyen is investing in infrastructure and large-scale tourism projects. The Hanoi–Thai Nguyen–Cho Moi express corridor is expected to start in May 2026, shortening travel time from Hanoi to Thai Nguyen to about 1 hour 20 minutes and improving interregional connectivity for tourism development.
Under the 2026–2030 plan, Thai Nguyen aims to welcome about 12 million visitors per year, including 1 million international visitors. The province said it is focusing on flagship products such as community-based tea culture tourism, origin/history tourism, ecotourism and high-end resort tourism, while intensifying investment in key tourism zones including Nui Coc Lake and Ba Be Lake.
In addition to transport infrastructure, Thai Nguyen plans to implement energy, water, irrigation, urban, digital infrastructure and other modern information and communications projects. It will also invest in heritage restoration and the preservation of cultural and historical sites, along with cultural-sport facilities.
Summer Tourism 2026 is described as highlighting the identity of “Lakes on mountains—Tea in the sky.”
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
