An investor in the Sam Son coastal project won the auction with a bid of 70.168 billion dong for the East Coastal Space along Ho Xuan Huong Street in Thanh Hoa. The winning price was more than 51 billion dong above the starting price.
The auction took place on April 15 and involved two bidders. The project covers the Sam Son coastline from the foot of Truong Le Mountain to the Van Chau Resort area, excluding the harbor mouth, stage, multi-agency building, Nguyen Thi Loi hero statue, access points to the beach, and three docking zones.
The space extends about 30 meters from the edge of Ho Xuan Huong Street toward the sea. Key components include 14 hubways and bathing facilities along the beach, together with supporting services and works such as bars, beverage areas, freshwater baths, green spaces, landscaping, and related infrastructure.
Previously, the 14 hubways were invested by a consortium under a BOT model with total investment of over 100 billion dong since 2016, providing dining, beverages, entertainment, health care, plazas and other tourism amenities.
In 2022, the consortium voluntarily handed over the entire project to Thanh Hoa. After the takeover, several items were not repaired and had degraded.
The eastern coastal space along Ho Xuan Huong Street is considered a tourism front area, intended to serve beachgoers and the millions of visitors to Sam Son each year. The successful auction is expected to support renovation and more efficient exploitation of the hubways in Sam Son.
