On the morning of April 30, 2026, Hue’s Project Management Board for Transport Infrastructure dismantled obstacles and officially opened the coastal road and the Thuận An coastal overpass (Phase 1), covering the section from Tam Giang Bridge to the junction with Hồ Văn Đỗ Street in Thuận An ward.
The overpass over the coast forms part of a nearly 7.8 km coastal road project. The Thuận An overpass itself is 2.36 km long and 20 to 23.5 meters wide, built using a cable-stayed design.
The project is described as a key transport work in Hue City, with total investment exceeding 2,400 billion VND. To date, about 2,483 billion VND has been allocated, and cumulative disbursement has reached over 2,230 billion VND.
After the Phase 1 opening, the project will continue to complete the asphalt concrete wearing course on the southern segment of road 1B. It will also construct an approximately 200 m section from Hồ Văn Đỗ Street to the National Highway 49 interchange to officially complete and put the project into use.
Separately, Hue City approved investment in the Technical Infrastructure Project and the Thuận An Coastal Cultural Park, with total capital near 117.85 billion VND in the southern area of the coastal overpass near this road.
The coastal park includes a plaza and multi-functional parks, divided into three zones: A plaza, B park, and C park. These areas will be connected by internal roads and a pedestrian bridge.
The plaza covers more than 5,000 square meters and will be paved with granite. It will include lighting and drainage systems, along with a 190 m sea-front retaining wall.
The two parks total over 3,400 square meters and are planned to host amenities such as parking, service facilities, and internal garden spaces intended to serve the community and visitors.
The broader objective is to develop the city outward toward the sea, diversify tourism products, improve service quality, promote sustainable tourism, and increase revenue from tourism, services, and real estate, while also creating jobs for local residents.
Overall, the coastal area near the new road will host a versatile coastal park development project covering about 14.48 hectares of land clearance, with a core construction area of about 1.42 hectares. The plan includes a central plaza and multi-functional parks, connected by internal roads and a pedestrian bridge, with open space intended to support cultural events and seaside activities for both residents and visitors.
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
