Information from FPT Corporation indicates that the Government of Japan has announced awarding the Order of the Rising Sun to Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of the Board of FPT, in recognition of his significant contributions to the development of Vietnam–Japan relations.
Under Mr. Truong Gia Binh’s leadership, FPT was among the early software exporters to Japan two decades ago, helping Vietnamese software companies access and grow in this market. FPT has built a deep presence in Japan and has become one of the foreign technology firms with substantial investment in the market, employing about 5,000 people across 18 offices and research centers, serving more than 450 clients.
FPT and Mr. Truong Gia Binh have actively engaged in cooperation mechanisms and business connections between the two countries, including economic forums, business associations and Vietnam–Japan collaboration initiatives. These efforts have contributed to stronger linkages among the business community and advanced cooperation in strategic technology areas such as digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and semiconductors.

In 2013, Mr. Truong Gia Binh was also awarded the Nikkei Asian Prize by Nikkei (Japan) for his important contributions to the development of Vietnam’s IT sector.
Regarding FPT, in Q1 2026, revenue reached VND 12,480 billion, while pre-tax profit was VND 2,804 billion. Both figures increased year over year by 8.7% and 16.3%, respectively.
Revenue from abroad IT services continued to grow 10.4%, reaching VND 9,034 billion. The Japanese market was cited as the main driver, with growth of 18.8% year over year.
In AI, FPT established two AI factories in Vietnam and Japan. The AI ecosystem “Made by FPT” now has more than 80 products.
FPT has been involved in the semiconductor sector for more than a decade, developing an integrated ecosystem from design, packaging, testing to training. The focus includes power-management chips and power chips. By the end of 2025, FPT had delivered the first batch of commercial power chips to a leading Japanese electronics company through Restar, a major distributor of electronics equipment in Japan.
Recently, FPT established Vietnam’s first semiconductor test and packaging plant, owned by Vietnamese.
In early April 2026, FPT Group and CAC Holdings—one of Japan’s leading IT services providers—announced a joint venture to form UPSTRIDE. The venture will focus on building, operating, monitoring IT infrastructure, and deploying and developing technology products.
The collaboration is expected to leverage technology strength, a team of experts, a product-service ecosystem, and a global partner network to effectively capitalize on opportunities in Japan and the ASEAN region.
