In the presence of General Secretary and President To Lâm, Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, and senior leaders from both countries, Vietjet officially announced the direct flight route between Ho Chi Minh City and Colombo at the Vietnam–Sri Lanka Forum on Trade, Investment and Tourism. This is the first direct route connecting Vietnam with Sri Lanka, marking a new milestone in Vietjet's strategy to expand its international network and contribute to stronger economic, trade, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. The Ho Chi Minh City–Colombo route is expected to launch in August 2026 with four return services per week. Through Vietjet's wide network, Colombo will be connected conveniently to many economic, tourism and financial hubs in the Asia-Pacific region such as Australia, Japan, South Korea, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and many other countries. Speaking at the event, Mr. Dinh Viet Phuong, Vietjet's First Vice President, said: "The Ho Chi Minh City–Colombo route not only opens new air connectivity between the two countries, but also helps promote cooperation corridors in trade, investment, tourism and cultural exchange in the South Asia and Asia-Pacific region." Colombo—an important economic and trading center in the Indian Ocean—together with Ho Chi Minh City, one of Southeast Asia's most dynamic cities, are expected to create a new bridge for regional growth and cooperation. With a modern fleet and an expanding international network, Vietjet continues to affirm its role as Vietnam's connectivity carrier, contributing to integration, trade, and enhancing the country’s position on the world stage.
