On April 29, Vingroup began construction of the International University City in Xuan Thoi Son commune, Ho Chi Minh City. The 880-hectare project is designed to become a leading “knowledge-park city” in Asia, aimed at driving growth across the surrounding area in a new development phase.
The groundbreaking ceremony marked part of a series of events celebrating the 51st anniversary of the liberation and reunification. The project is located in the strategic western-north growth axis of Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the information shared at the ceremony, the project has total investment of about 59,000 billion VND.
Tran Van Bay, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, said the project is expected to connect conveniently with the southern economic region through National Highway 22, Ring Road 3, and the Ho Chi Minh City – Moc Bai Expressway.
He added that future connections of Metro Lines 2 and 3 to the project are expected to accelerate its development and help it become a destination that gathers economic and knowledge flows.
The project is planned into five zones: a Zen Park, a Blue Sea Park, a Knowledge Park, an International Park, and a Golf Paradise Park.
It also includes a large educational and knowledge ecosystem, with more than 150 hectares allocated to universities, high-quality education, and research centers. Other planned facilities include Vinmec international hospitals and Vincom Mega Mall, featuring top domestic and international brands.
For leisure and entertainment, the project includes a 36-hole golf complex along with amenities for entertainment and dining. It also features extensive green parks, including a 27-hectare Botanical Park, a 23-hectare Water Park, a 10-hectare Japanese Garden, and VinWonders covering over 16 hectares.
After the groundbreaking ceremony, the city said it will continue coordinating with relevant authorities and the investor to promptly address difficulties, ensure continuous implementation, comply with laws, and ensure social welfare and sustainable development.
The project is described as a “green lung” for the area, following a green-first development principle: green in scale, green in connectivity, and green in experience, with the goal of creating a livable space in the region.
Mr. Le Khac Hiep, Deputy Chairman of Vingroup, said the International University City is intended to become a new symbol of Vingroup and Vinhomes in the Tây Bắc area of Ho Chi Minh City, where large-scale ecological space and a global knowledge ecosystem converge.
He added that the project aims to contribute to science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation.
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
