On the morning of April 12, 2026, Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, a member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee, led a working delegation to survey the implementation status of key projects in Buôn Ma Thuot city, aiming to promptly address difficulties and obstacles and to accelerate local socio-economic development.
From 8:00 a.m., Secretary Triet and the delegation surveyed the Suoi Xanh Eco-Cultural Coffee City project (also known as Coffee City). The project covers an area of 45.45 hectares. In Phase 1, 19.8 hectares have been allocated or leased.
To date, many infrastructure works and utilities have been completed, gradually forming a model urban area linked to coffee culture and local identity. The project is reported to contribute to the state budget and create stable jobs for thousands of workers. The World Coffee Museum is described as a symbolic project to promote the province’s culture and potential, helping Buon Ma Thuot become the “world coffee city.”
The project has completed 95% of Phase 1. The remaining work will focus on expediting components in line with the master plan, including a hotel and commercial complex expected to be completed and operational in 2028, and an educational facility expected to be completed in Q2 2026.
Outstanding issues for Phase 1, including procedures to obtain land-use rights certificates (pink books), are being handled by relevant agencies before the Phase 1 deadline on April 21, 2026, to ensure residents and customers’ confidence and stability. In addition, land allocation and related procedures for Phase 2 are awaiting decisions and guidance from central and local authorities.
The delegation also surveyed the Trung Nguyên Legend Coffee Plant project at Lot CN 5, Tan An 2 Industrial Cluster, Tan An Ward. The project has a design capacity of 1,000 kg/hour (approximately 7,896 tons of finished products per year), with a total investment for two phases of VND 2,000 billion.
The plant is reported to be equipped with technology from Germany and Italy and to collaborate with top global technology brands, with a high level of automation. The project is expected to generate demand for about 400 workers.
Construction is planned from Q2 2026 to Q3 2027, with production scheduled to begin in Q4 2027.
The project is described as a key initiative to develop a deep processing ecosystem for the coffee sector, increase the value of Buon Ma Thuot Robusta coffee, and support socio-economic development. It is expected to complete Trung Nguyên Legend’s coffee processing ecosystem—from green beans to roasted and instant coffee—expanding Trung Nguyên’s footprint to five factories nationwide to meet export demand in more than 100 countries.
After hearing reports on the Suoi Xanh project’s status and remaining obstacles, Secretary Triet directed the Finance, Construction, Agriculture and Environment departments to promptly address issues within the remaining Phase 1 window and align with central guidance to accelerate Phase 2. He also urged agencies to closely follow central guidelines to facilitate Phase 2 of this key project.
Next, the delegation visited the Trung Nguyên Legend Coffee Plant project and urged accelerating construction to commence in June 2026, in conjunction with the province’s investment promotion conference.
At the working session, Trung Nguyên Legend representatives reaffirmed their commitment to focusing resources to implement the key projects on schedule, contributing to realizing Buon Ma Thuot as the world coffee city and supporting local socio-economic development.
From April 17–19, 2026, Trung Nguyên Legend will accompany the Provincial People’s Committee, with UNESCO’s participation, to host the World Coffee Heritage Forum at the World Coffee Museum. The event is described as underscoring the company’s ongoing partnership with the province in promoting coffee, sustainable development, and international integration.
Also on the morning of April 12, 2026, Secretary Triet and the delegation surveyed major infrastructure projects, including Ton Duc Thang Street, Hung Vuong Street, Giai Phong Street, upgrades to 19/5 Street, and the National Highway 26–National Highway 14–Provincial Road 8 corridor.
During the inspections and progress reports from units, Secretary Triet praised the efforts of investors, contractors, and local authorities for timely implementation of key projects. He emphasized that these projects are crucial for traffic infrastructure, urban refurbishment, and promoting the province’s socio-economic development.
He urged agencies to accelerate administrative procedures and resolve outstanding issues to ensure projects proceed as committed, creating momentum for integrated development and better inter-sector coordination to maximize the province’s potential.
Dak Lak occupies a strategic position in the Central Highlands and serves as a regional hub for economic development, defense and security, and is a key node for transport, high-tech agriculture, processing industries, and tourism. With advantages in land resources, climate, and cross-regional connectivity, Dak Lak aims to become a new growth pole in the Tây Nguyên and the South-Central Coastal Region, targeting average GDP growth of 10.5% per year or more for 2026–2030.
Exports are reported to be on a robust trajectory: 2025 exports were around USD 2.8 billion, up 26% against 2024 and surpassing targets. Core agricultural exports—coffee, pepper, and durian—are described as pivotal for macroeconomic growth and foreign exchange earnings.
Coffee is cited as a pillar product, accounting for about 30–35% of national output, with exports around 240,000 tons. Pepper exports exceed 40,000 tons, while durian production covers 40,000–45,000 hectares with output near 400,000 tons annually, described as a new growth driver for the province.
The coordinated rollout of urban development, processing industries, and coffee economy expansion is expected to strengthen linkages, broaden the province’s economic space, increase value-added in coffee and other key crops, and support sustainable growth in the coming period.
