On April 13, 2026, Nguyen Quoc Cuong, Deputy Director of the Hue City Department of Finance, said that, according to the Government Inspector’s conclusion, Hue City needs to review 38 projects for withdrawal due to slow progress. To date, the People’s Committee of Hue City has reviewed and identified 3 projects that cannot continue, including the Suối Voi tourist area in Chan May – Lang Co commune.
The Suối Voi project has a total investment of about 1,020 billion VND, covering more than 51.8 hectares. It was expected to be completed in 2023. The project is led by Hoa Lu - Hue Investment Co., Ltd.
The project began in 2017 with a policy decision and was adjusted in 2020. At present, the site shows no active construction.
Hoang Viet Cuong, Chief of the Office of Hue’s People’s Committee, said the Suối Voi project is on the list of long-delayed projects. The city has reported to the Ministry of Finance and the Government, but no official comment has been issued yet. Possible handling may be delegated to local authorities.
The People’s Committee is also reporting to the Standing Committee of the City Party to seek approval. Hue City will continue reviewing the remaining 35 projects, and if violations are found, corresponding actions will be taken.
According to the report, the area used to be a popular ecological tourist site, and local residents were displaced to make way for the project. After a period of implementation, many components remained unfinished, the project stalled, and it has remained idle to date, contributing to resource waste and affecting local livelihoods.
