Across the Netherlands and France, many ancient villages preserve the timeless beauty of Europe, where centuries-old architecture and a slower pace of life create a distinct sense of calm. The same inspiration is now being translated into a modern urban development concept in Nghệ An, Vietnam.
In Giethoorn, the Netherlands—known as the “village with no roads”—sloped thatched roofs sit beside emerald canals. The village’s standout feature is a network of canals that replaces roads, with more than 170 small wooden bridges connecting thatched-roof houses. The area is described as nearly free of traffic noise, with only the sounds of paddles, birds, and wind through trees.
In France, Colmar and Gordes are highlighted for their multi-colored wooden houses or stone structures built along hillside slopes, surrounded by vineyards and lavender fields. The article frames these places as blending culture, history, art, and a relaxed lifestyle, with an emphasis on balance, connection with nature, and enduring sustainable values.
Inspired by these picturesque ancient villages, the Ecopark founder has unveiled initial real-world experiences at The Grand Island, the Europe Island branch within the Eco Central Park mega-urban area in Truong Vinh Ward, Nghe An. The project is described as nearly 200 hectares.
The Grand Island comprises nine island branches developed on a 16-hectare site. Its design uses sinuous lines intended to open the widest water views across the urban area.
Water is presented as the visual focal point of The Grand Island. The island also features architecturally distinctive, meticulously finished island villas, described as living works of art.
Steeply pitched roofs are identified as a signature element. Each villa is color-coordinated, with brown-tiled roofs and timber details on balconies, intended to harmonize with the surrounding greenery and water.
The Grand Island is described as a secure, closed compound with 24/7 security. The article says this setting supports a daily-life experience centered on the natural environment.
It is located within the region’s largest green urban complex, Eco Central Park, in Nghệ An. The article also states that planning and landscape can create a microclimate by combining water, green canopy, and ground vegetation to reduce radiant heat and guide breezes from the water into living spaces—cooling hot days and reducing heat differences between gardens and interiors.
As a result, occupants are said to experience temperatures more than 5°C cooler than central Vinh, supporting a more comfortable outdoor environment for daily activities.
With these landscape and design differentiators, the article notes that at the end of 2025 in Bangkok, PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards named The Grand Island “Asia’s Most Stylish Residential Project.”
Interested buyers of The Grand Island island villas may contact one of Eco Central Park’s official agents for consultation and support.

Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise.
