Ha Tinh is seeking to strengthen its investment climate for Belgian enterprises by leveraging the province’s potential in industry, logistics, and urban development, while committing to favorable conditions for long-term cooperation programs.
On May 11, a working session was held between Ha Tinh provincial leaders and a Belgian Embassy delegation led by Ambassador Karl Van den Bossche to advance cooperation across investment, trade, education, social welfare, and human resources development.
Ambassador Van den Bossche thanked Ha Tinh for its warm reception and said Belgium’s cooperation with Vietnam is intended to build a long-term, sustainable, and mutually beneficial relationship.
He highlighted Ha Tinh’s development potential and pointed to effective cooperation in recent years. In 2026, the Belgian Embassy in Vietnam funded 345.5 million VND for a non-project program titled “Assistance for students in difficult circumstances at Dou Yen parish, Vung Ang ward”.
The ambassador also noted that many Belgian enterprises are pursuing productive investment in Vietnam. He said the Embassy will continue promoting Ha Tinh’s potential and advantages to major Belgian corporations to encourage further exploration and investment in the province.
Ha Tinh Chairman Phan Thien Dinh expressed gratitude for support from the government and the Embassy, particularly through practical and effective cooperation programs and projects.
Provincial leadership said it wants to use the Embassy as a bridge to connect Ha Tinh with Belgian localities, expanding cooperation across multiple fields.
As part of the meeting, the Ha Tinh Department of Home Affairs and EB Services Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Central Retail Vietnam) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on human resource development. The agreement is intended to create opportunities to enhance workforce quality and connect job opportunities in the locality.
During the visit, Ambassador Van den Bossche and Ha Tinh leaders also witnessed the signing of the cooperation agreement between the Ha Tinh Department of Home Affairs and EB Services Co., Ltd.
To date, the cooperative relationship between Ha Tinh and Belgium has been active and positive. The Belgian government has supported Ha Tinh with four ODA projects totaling more than EUR 9.35 million in areas including water resources management, climate-adaptive urban development, green growth, and strengthening public administration capacity.
Belgian non-governmental organizations have also partnered with Ha Tinh in health, agriculture, and rural development. During the COVID-19 outbreak, the Belgian Embassy in Vietnam provided 10 tons of rice to residents affected in Ha Tinh.
The non-project program supporting students in difficult circumstances at Dou Yen parish was recognized as a humanitarian effort of significant value, contributing to improved educational conditions and living standards for disadvantaged students in the locality.
During the working trip, the Belgian delegation led by Ambassador Van den Bossche directly conferred scholarships and school supplies to disadvantaged students in Vung Ang ward.
