Ho Chi Minh City has allocated more than 381 trillion VND to kick off a series of key infrastructure projects, planned to begin in July 2026. The initiatives are expected to reshape the city’s transport network and urban landscape and are also scheduled to mark the 50th anniversary of the city named after Uncle Ho.
July 2026: 10 major infrastructure projects
In July, the city will start 10 major projects with total investment of over 381 trillion VND. The projects include transport links, bridges, expressway connections, and urban riverfront development.
Rail, bridges and expressway links
- Thủ Thiêm – Long Thành railway line: 41.8 km; PPP under a BT-type contract; total investment 175,000 billion VND; implementation 2026–2030.
- Sea-crossing bridge connecting Can Gio and Ba Ria – Vung Tàu: over 14 km; main bridges 4.7 km and 2.2 km; road length nearly 5 km; cross-section 35 m; total investment over 92,600 billion VND; PPP, BT; 2026–2029.
- Ho Tram urban expressway connecting to Long Thành International Airport: 42 km; 6 lanes plus dual carriageways; total investment over 51,500 billion VND; PPP, BT; 2026–2029.
- Bình Tiên Bridge (Phạm Văn Chí to Nguyễn Văn Linh): total investment 6,275 billion VND; 3.2 km long; 30–40 m wide; aimed at easing congestion in southern Ho Chi Minh City.
- Thủ Thiêm 4 Bridge: total road and bridge length about 2.16 km; 8 lanes; total investment over 5,000 billion VND; funded by public funds.
Urban and riverfront development
- Ben Nha Rong Khanh Hoi Cultural Park and riverbank greenery along the Saigon River: total investment 30,000 billion VND; BT; 2026–2029. The project is divided into five subzones:
- Subzone 1: expands the Ho Chi Minh Museum area and Nguyễn Tất Thành avenue.
- Subzone 2: includes partial undergrounding and green spaces around Bạch Đằng Wharf.
- Subzones 3 and 4: riverfront parks and cultural/arts facilities.
- Subzone 5: creates a riverfront park along Rạch Cá Tre.
Road network and interchanges
- Cat Lai – Phú Hữu interport road, the Ho Chi Minh City – Long Thành – Dầu Giây expressway interchange, and Ring Road 3: 5.9 km long; 60 m wide; total investment over 8,700 billion VND; funded by the city budget.
Additional social housing and welfare projects
Beyond transport and urban infrastructure, the city will also implement social housing and social welfare projects, including:
- Social housing at Dinh Hoa area (phase 1) and Dinh Hoa area 4 in Chánh Hiep ward by Becamex: total 3,200 billion VND.
- Social housing – Area 2 and Area 7 at Viet Sing in An Phú ward by Becamex: nearly 1,600 billion VND.
- Bình Dương water environment improvement project: over 7,200 billion VND.
