Ho Chi Minh City is finalizing procedures to begin construction of the Thu Thiem 4 Bridge, with total investment of over 5.063 trillion dong. The bridge is designed to directly connect the eastern and southern parts of the city and is expected to cross the Saigon River.
According to the plan of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee, the Thu Thiem 4 Bridge has a total route length of about 2.1 km. The starting point is on Nguyen Van Linh Street in Tan Thuan Ward, and the bridge will connect to Nguyen Co Thach Street at Thu Thiem New Urban Area in An Khanh Ward.
The bridge is planned with 8 lanes, including 6 motorized lanes and 2 mixed lanes.
To support implementation, Tan Thuan Port is expected to be relocated. After relocation, the riverside area will be studied for development into a park serving tourism and the urban economy.
The project is expected to connect Thu Thiem New Urban Area with the southern part of the city directly, helping ease traffic on major routes including Ton Duc Thang, Nguyen Tat Thanh, Huynh Tan Phat, and Nguyen Van Linh.
Besides the Thu Thiem 4 Bridge, Ho Chi Minh City is also working to complete procedures and commence construction before July 2 for nine other key projects. These include: Ho Tram - Long Thanh urban expressway; Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway; Can Gio - Vung Tau sea-crossing bridge-tunnel; Ben Nghe Rong Cultural Park - Khanh Hoi; Binh Tien Bridge; Cat Lai - Phu Huu interport; the river basin improvement project in the Binh Duong area along with social housing; urban upgrading; and science-technology infrastructure projects.
