Hue City is reshaping its tourism development by dividing experiential spaces into four characteristic zones, spanning rivers and lagoons to mountains and villages, to create a diverse ecosystem of tourism products that reflects local identity. Vice Chairman of the Hue People’s Committee, Tran Huu Thuy Giang, signed Plan No. 188/KH-UBND on developing eco-tourism and community tourism for 2026–2027.
Under the plan, Hue aims to form four eco-tourism and community-tourism clusters based on distinct spaces: riverside–urban fringe; lagoon–sea; mountains–ecological forest; and agriculture–villages. The zoning is intended to help the city exploit tourism resources more effectively, create products with unique character, avoid duplication, and improve competitiveness.
Key destination directions include:
The city will review and select approximately 10–12 communes or wards with potential for eco-tourism and community tourism development during 2026–2027. Hue also targets investing in, upgrading, and bringing into operation at least 8–10 model sites that meet infrastructure, environmental, safety, and visitor reception criteria.
A notable point in the plan is building the product narrative, described as a key factor in enhancing the tourism experience. The city will standardize content at destinations to help visitors better understand local culture, history, and daily life.
Hue also aims for about 50 percent of households directly involved in tourism to receive training. The initiative is intended to improve service quality and hospitality, while supporting a shift in mindset toward environmental protection, landscape preservation, and sustainable tourism development.
By the end of Q1 2026, Hue had 887 accommodation establishments with 14,075 rooms and 22,644 beds. Of these, 199 hotels accounted for 22.4 percent of total facilities but held 60.5 percent of rooms.
Within the star-rated segment, the 3–5 star hotels comprised 24 facilities with 3,430 rooms, representing 91.4 percent of rooms among star-rated hotels.
The city’s travel-services system continued to expand to 91 units, including 65 international tour operators, 19 domestic operators, and 7 offices/agents, providing a foundation for market expansion, product diversification, and stronger tour connectivity.
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
