Hundreds of athletes participated in the Vietnam Journalists Association 2026 pickleball tournament. On the morning of April 19, 2026, in Duc Nhuan Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, more than 300 competitors—reporters, editors, heads of newsrooms, and representatives from media outlets and businesses—took part in the Vietnam Journalists Association 2026 pickleball tournament. The event was organized to commemorate the 76th anniversary of the Vietnam Journalists Association (April 21, 1950 – April 21, 2026) and to mark the 51st anniversary of the liberation and reunification of the country (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2026). This is the first large-scale pickleball tournament for journalists working at journalism associations and media outlets in Ho Chi Minh City and other localities. Each association or media outlet formed a team for the team competition. The tournament also brought together entrepreneurs, artists, and guests to strengthen the connection between journalism, business, and the community. Pickleball is an indoor or outdoor sport played in singles (two players) or doubles (four players) on a rectangular court. Players use a paddle with a smooth face to hit a hollow plastic ball with holes over a net 0.86 meters high until one side cannot return the ball or commits a fault. It can be described as a sport combining tennis, table tennis, and badminton, as the court size is similar to badminton, the net resembles tennis, and the paddle is a flat, solid piece akin to table tennis. The ball is plastic like a table tennis ball but roughly the size of a tennis ball. Mr. Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association (South) in charge of the southern region, said the event is not only a meaningful sporting activity for the journalism sector but also an opportunity to enhance interaction among journalism agencies, businesses, and the community. Currently, the sport is attracting public interest; many central and Ho Chi Minh City media outlets have organized tournaments, but none have been dedicated to journalists. Therefore, the Vietnam Journalists Association organized the tournament to provide a playing field for journalists and to serve as a platform for networking with partner businesses that have supported journalism in charitable and social activities. Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
