On the afternoon of 6 April, during the first session of the 16th National Assembly, the National Assembly voted to approve the Resolution on the election of the State Auditor General for the 2026–2031 term.
Nguyễn Hữu Nghĩa was elected to hold the post of State Auditor General for the 2026–2031 term.
With 485 delegates participating in the vote, all 485 delegates approved the Resolution, representing 100% of the attendees and 97% of the total number of deputies.
Nguyễn Hữu Nghĩa was born in 1972 in Hanoi. He holds a Doctorate in Finance and Banking.
He is a member of the Party’s 13th and 14th Central Committees and a deputy of the 16th National Assembly.
Mr. Nghĩa has held numerous positions in the State Bank of Vietnam, including Deputy Head of the Department of International Payments and Debt Settlement and the Trading Department; Deputy Head and Head of Strategy and Development in the banking sector at the Banking Strategy Development Department; Deputy Chief Inspector; Director of the Monetary Forecast and Statistics Department; and Chief Inspector and Supervisor.
He later served as Director of the General Economics Department and Deputy Head of the Central Economics Committee.
In June 2021, the Politburo assigned him to serve as Secretary of the Party Committee of Hưng Yên Province. After Hưng Yên merged with Thái Bình, he continued to hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of Hưng Yên and has remained in the role since then.
