On April 28, at the regular press briefing of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mr. Nguyen Duy Cuong, Deputy Director of the Wage and Social Insurance Department, told reporters about comments proposing a higher base salary than 2.53 million dong per month. The base salary is proposed to increase from 2.34 million dong per month to 2.53 million dong per month (about an 8% rise) from July 1, 2026. In line with the Government's assignment and the Politburo's conclusions, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has cooperated with relevant ministries to draft a decree governing the base salary and the bonus regime for civil servants, public employees, and armed forces. Regarding the 8% increase, Mr. Cuong said the Party's Central Committee has reported to the Politburo and the Politburo has agreed to the base salary increase to 2.53 million dong per month. The draft decree has been sent to the Ministry of Justice for appraisal. On April 24, the Ministry of Justice held the appraisal. Based on the appraisal conclusions, the Ministry of Internal Affairs will finalize the draft decree to report to and present to the Government for issuance, ensuring it takes effect from July 1.
