To strengthen the integration of culture and arts with tourism development, Quang Ninh is studying investment in an immersive live-performance project on the coastline of Ha Long Bay, as well as community tourism products in Ba Che, Binh Lieu, Yen Tu and other localities. Tourism in Quang Ninh continues to recover and grow clearly in the early months of 2026. In March, the province welcomed about 2.12 million visitors, up 9% year on year. Domestic visitors were about 1.64 million, while international visitors were around 480,000. Total tourism revenue for March was estimated at 5.3 trillion VND.
In the first quarter of 2026, Quang Ninh welcomed an estimated 6.275 million visitors, up 5% against the quarterly plan and up 10% from the same period last year. Domestic visitors reached about 4.895 million, and international visitors were about 1.38 million. The number of overnight stays reached 1.4 million, maintaining growth in the double-digit range. Total tourism revenue for the quarter was about 15.687 trillion VND, up 19% year on year.
A bright spot is cruise ship tourism, a segment associated with higher spending. In the first two months, Ha Long International Passenger Port welcomed 6 ships with more than ten thousand passengers. In March, it is expected to host 16 international cruise calls, bringing 16,000–20,000 high-end visitors from the Asia–Europe market to Quang Ninh.
At Ha Long Bay, the province’s core tourism hub, the visitor mix has shifted strongly toward international markets. From the start of the year to March 15, the bay welcomed over 649,000 visitors. Vietnamese visitors accounted for just over 50,000, while nearly 599,000 were foreigners. Visitor revenue from admission exceeded 200.86 billion VND.
These early signals are seen as a foundation for Quang Ninh to target 22 million visitors in 2026, including 5.2 million international visitors.
To respond to global developments and volatility in fuel prices, one of the main directions for Quang Ninh’s tourism is to strengthen exposure to near markets less affected by transport costs. In early March 2026, the Department worked with travel companies specializing in the Chinese market to unify solutions to attract visitors. The forecast is that Chinese visitors to Quang Ninh in 2026 could reach 850,000 to 1 million, up 15–20% from last year.
In addition, the tourism sector is expanding promotion in other potential markets such as the Philippines, Thailand, South Korea, India, Taiwan (China) and Russia. Promotion activities focus on showcasing Quang Ninh’s signature products, including coastal and island tourism, luxury accommodation, and linking heritage journeys between Ha Long Bay and Yen Tu.
Quang Ninh is also preparing for the peak summer season with a series of events. The provincial People’s Committee issued a plan to host the Summer Culture, Sports and Tourism Week “Ha Long Carnival 2026 – The Wonder of a New Era,” scheduled from April 25 to May 3. The program includes 15 cultural, artistic, sports, festival and experiential tourism activities across Ha Long wards, Bai Chay, Hong Gai and Yen Tu.
One highlight is the “Wave of Light” performance, featuring dozens of cruise ships on the bay turning the water surface into a giant stage, creating an unprecedented experience for visitors.
Other cultural-spiritual and arts activities at Yen Tu include the Tran Duc Ong Tran Quoc Nghiem temple festival, the Quang Ninh Film Festival, and a mining region’s literature and arts exhibition, alongside sports and international arts programs.
According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Ninh, during the summer period many accommodations in Ha Long, Cam Pha and Van Don are expected to operate at 80–90% occupancy. Hundreds of cruise ships on Ha Long Bay will also increase service frequency to serve visitors for sightseeing, overnight stays and experiences.
To ensure absolute safety for visitors, a joint inter-agency task force, including the Waterway Police (Quang Ninh Police), Ha Long – Yen Tu World Heritage management, and the Inland Waterway Port Authority, will maintain regular patrols and conduct surprise checks on vessels in operation. Inspections will focus on vessel technical conditions, fire protection systems, life-saving equipment, and crew professional certificates. Vessels are required to maintain uninterrupted communications to promptly handle arising situations.
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
