Special warning to all those who install surveillance cameras. By Trang Anh — Saturday, 04/04/2026, 12:36 To prevent and curb the risk of cyber attacks targeting security infrastructure, the provincial police have outlined three measures. The Vinh Long Provincial Police on 3/4 issued a safety-information warning about threats to seize control from serious security vulnerabilities in the surveillance camera system. According to the police, recently, surveillance camera systems and cybersecurity management platforms have become lucrative targets for criminals using advanced technology. Information-security experts have consecutively disclosed a series of vulnerabilities with severe impact. If not promptly reviewed and remedied, camera systems could become “spies” inside the internal network, leading to leakage of sensitive images and important operational data. The Vinh Long Police also disclosed four especially dangerous vulnerabilities being exploited by hacker groups: 1. CVE-2025-34067 (Remote code execution – Severity: Extremely critical) This weakness lies in the data-processing component of the integrated security-management platform. No account or password is required; a remote attacker can send malicious code to force the system to execute automatically. The consequence is attackers gaining full control of the management server, thereby penetrating deep into the organization’s entire network infrastructure. 2. CVE-2025-39247 (Access-control flaw – Severity: High) Present on centralized management software; this vulnerability allows attackers to bypass normal authentication steps to grant themselves administrator privileges. Once admin, the attacker can secretly view cameras, change configurations, delete data, or disable all security alerts. 3. CVE-2025-66177 (Buffer overflow – Severity: High) This flaw targets the device search feature of NVR/DVR models and IP cameras. If an attacker has access to the same internal network (LAN) as the cameras, they can continuously send specially crafted data packets to overload the device. This can cause the camera system to freeze, reboot repeatedly, or stop recording entirely, creating security blind spots for wrongdoing. 4. CVE-2026-0709 (Command execution on Wi-Fi devices – Severity: High) Not only cameras, the company’s Wi-Fi access points are also at risk. When credentials are known (often users keep default passwords), attackers can deeply interfere with the system to change internal network configurations, intercept wireless data streams, and use these devices as stepping stones to attack other business computers. To prevent and curb cyber-attack risks targeting security infrastructure, the provincial police identified three measures.
