Retail sales of goods and consumer service revenues in April 2026 were estimated at 646.3 trillion dong, up 1.7% from the previous month and up 12.1% year on year. In April’s growth structure, several groups recorded higher year-on-year increases: gasoline and fuels (+17.4%); accommodation and food services (+14.1%); food and staples (+11.6%); clothing (+9.7%); cultural and educational goods (+9.3%); household equipment (+8.1%); travel and tourism services (+6.5%); and other service categories (+9.4%).
In the first four months of 2026, total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue reached 2,546.6 trillion dong, up 11.1% year on year. Excluding price effects, real growth was 6.3%.
Retail revenue for four months 2026 amounted to 1,938.8 trillion dong, accounting for 76.1% of the total and up 11.1% year on year. Growth leaders included: apparel (+11.3% year on year); food and staples (+10.2%); household goods (+7.9%); cultural and educational goods (+6.2%); and other goods (+18.2%).
By locality, Quang Ninh led with a 12.8% increase, followed by Bac Ninh (+11.5%), Can Tho (+10.4%), and Hai Phong (+10.3%).
Revenue from accommodation and food services in the four months was 317.4 trillion dong, representing 12.5% of the total and up 13.4% year on year. Da Nang recorded the highest increase (+17.7%), followed by Hai Phong (+14.6%), Can Tho (+14.5%), Ho Chi Minh City (+9.5%), and Hanoi (+9.0%).
Travel and tourism revenue in the four months was 31.9 trillion dong, 1.3% of the total, up 12.1% year on year. Can Tho and Hai Phong posted standout increases of +16.1% and +13.7%, respectively, followed by Hanoi (+11.5%), Da Nang (+8.6%), and Ho Chi Minh City (+7.7%).
Other services revenue in the four months was 258.5 trillion dong, 10.1% of the total, up 8.5% year on year. Hue posted a surge of +26.8%, followed by Ninh Binh (+16.9%) and Khanh Hoa (+15.7%).
Experts said growth is broad-based across both retail and services, indicating a positive recovery in market demand. They noted that tourism-focused localities such as Da Nang, Can Tho, and Hai Phong continue to lead growth, reflecting the effectiveness of tourism stimulus and cultural events in early 2026.
