Debt-collection staff must not abuse or harass customers or their relatives. The Vietnam Bankers Association has issued a Code of Conduct for debt collection activities. This Code standardizes the norms and conduct in debt collection by credit institutions. The Code specifies the actions debt-collection staff must not perform, including: - Using violence or hiring third parties to use violence, harass, insult, deceive, coerce, or employ other tactics against customers or their relatives to collect debts, including but not limited to the following: - Threatening, coercing, detaining, beating, destroying property or using tools, equipment, or other means to injure the customer or their relatives. - Calling or texting with frequency or at times that are inappropriate, displaying banners, leaving animal carcasses, painting, drawing, or posting offensive images on walls, causing disorder at home or at work; using media or social networks to insult or defame customers or their relatives. - Insulting or shouting with culturally inappropriate content or comments that demean appearance, intellect, income, or occupation, including but not limited to discrimination on race, gender, religion, or region against the customer or their relatives. - Spreading false information about debt, forging documents from government authorities, or causing customers or their relatives to misunderstand the legal consequences of non-payment in a negative and unlawful manner. - Encouraging or pressuring customers to borrow at usurious rates not in accordance with the law, forging loan documents or engaging in illegal acts to repay debt. - Violations of customer information confidentiality, including but not limited to: Publicly disclosing customer information in public places or on social networks; Providing customer information to other organizations or individuals except as permitted by law; Collecting, copying, or using customer information for personal or improper purposes in violation of law or internal regulations. - Tuân Nguyễn.
