Chairman of the National Assembly Trần Thanh Mẫn presented the National Assembly’s resolution appointing Nguyễn Hữu Nghĩa as State Auditor for the 2026–2031 term. The ceremony took place on the afternoon of April 7 in Hanoi, where Chairman Mẫn attended to announce and hand over the resolution to Mr. Nghĩa, a member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of Hung Yen Province.
On behalf of the National Assembly leadership, Chairman Mẫn awarded the resolution on personnel matters and presented flowers to Mr. Nghĩa. Chairman Mẫn noted that Nghĩa has held positions in the banking sector, the Central Economic Commission, and Hung Yen Province. He is a PhD in Finance – Banking and has extensive experience at both central and local levels.
With this background, Chairman Mẫn said Nghĩa is expected to help the State Audit Office fulfill its duties during the 16th National Assembly term.
Chairman Mẫn asked the new State Auditor to work with the State Audit Office’s Party Committee and leadership to continue improving the legal framework for the State Audit Office. He also called for ensuring the institution has sufficient auditing capacity to oversee public finances and assets, implementing the State Audit Law, and developing a development strategy to 2040 with a vision to 2045.
Chairman Mẫn emphasized raising the overall quality of human resources and building a team of state auditors under the motto “Ethics - Heart - Vision - Talent”, strengthening political stance, ethics, and professional competence. He also urged reforms to enhance the State Audit Office’s performance, including conducting proactive audits early and remotely.
He further called for expanding capabilities in forecasting, analysis, and policy recommendations. Chairman Mẫn stressed the use of science and technology, digital transformation, and artificial intelligence in auditing, and he encouraged stronger cooperation with supreme audit institutions worldwide.
He also highlighted the need for greater transparency of audit results.
In his remarks, the new State Auditor Nguyễn Hữu Nghĩa expressed sincere gratitude to the National Assembly and its delegates for the trust and confidence placed in him. He said the appointment is a great honor and a heavy responsibility bestowed by the Party, State, and people.
He noted that the country is entering a new development era with two centenary goals, which requires new and stronger demands on the Party and people, especially for the audit sector, to achieve two-digit growth.
Mr. Nghĩa said the new context calls for continued reform and comprehensive development with a breakthrough mindset to reinforce the role of the State Audit Office as a tool of the Party and State in auditing public finances, assets, and the state budget.
He pledged to seriously absorb the directives of the Chairman of the National Assembly and translate them into concrete plans and tasks for implementation in the near future.
