Vice President Võ Thị Ánh Xuân has been re-elected for a new term. This afternoon, the National Assembly voted unanimously, with 485 out of 485 deputies casting ballots in favor, to elect her to a new Vice Presidency term for 2026–2031.
Following the President’s submission of the nomination list, the National Assembly approved the list and conducted secret ballots to elect the Vice President. The Standing Committee of the National Assembly then presented draft resolutions to the deputies. With 485/485 votes in favor, the National Assembly passed the resolutions electing Võ Thị Ánh Xuân as Vice President for the 2026–2031 term.
Võ Thị Ánh Xuân was born on January 8, 1970, in An Giang Province. She holds a Bachelor of Education in Chemistry. She is a standing member of the 14th Party Central Committee and an alternate member of the 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th Central Committees. She has served as a deputy in the 14th, 15th, and 16th National Assemblies.
Her career began as a chemistry teacher at Mỹ Thới High School in Long Xuyên, before she worked as a research officer in the Provincial Party Committee’s Office. From 2001 to 2010, she held multiple roles, including Vice President and President of An Giang Province’s Women’s Union; Deputy Chief of the Provincial Party Committee’s Public Mobilization Department; and Secretary of Tan Châu Town.
She later served as Vice Chairman and Vice Secretary of the An Giang Provincial People’s Committee. On October 2, 2015, the Politburo appointed her as Secretary of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee for the 2010–2015 term. At the 10th Provincial Party Congress, she was elected Secretary of An Giang Province and was re-elected for the 2020–2025 term.
On April 6, 2021, during the 11th session of the 14th National Assembly, she was elected Vice President. She was re-elected to the position at the first session of the 15th National Assembly in July 2021.
