Earth Day 2026 observed, nearly 200 UNIQLO Vietnam employees joined forces to clean Ha Khê Beach in Da Nang. The activity was coordinated with the Hope Foundation and the Da Nang Son Tra Peninsula and Beaches Management Board to help reduce beach waste that affects local residents and visitors and to spread a message of environmental protection. From early morning, along Ha Khê Beach, almost 200 UNIQLO staff wearing active attire quickly split into groups, prepared tools, and carried out waste collection in designated areas. In the bright sun, the familiar blue jerseys were rolled up as they diligently searched for and removed plastic bags, plastic bottles, and domestic waste buried in the sand or mixed with grasses. Each member gave their best effort to restore the beach’s clean appearance. Throughout the event, all waste collected was sorted carefully before being sent for processing in accordance with environmental standards. The teamwork spirit helped the cleanup proceed quickly and efficiently. The activity also featured UNIQLO Vietnam's leadership; the CEO joined the staff in picking up trash, boosting morale and strengthening team cohesion. According to Akiyama Naoki, the CEO of UNIQLO Vietnam, in seven years in Vietnam, besides business operations, UNIQLO has encouraged employees to participate in activities that contribute to the environment and the community. "Through this beach cleanup, each UNIQLO member hopes to contribute to reducing beach waste that affects the landscape and people’s lives. We hope everyone will join hands to create a greener, cleaner and more beautiful living environment," he said. That spirit of teamwork is not only built through professional work but also through community-centric initiatives. When individuals contribute to meaningful projects, personal pride and team spirit grow—experiences that have become a powerful catalyst for employees to trust the company's mission. UNIQLO's ongoing community programs also reflect this spirit. From direct donations of RE.UNIQLO apparel, HEATTECH warm clothing, or UT Mickey shirts to families in need, to projects delivering clean water and rebuilding or repairing schools affected by storms in 2025, or emergency aid to people in disaster-affected areas, each journey underscores the positive impact of UNIQLO staff.
Premium gym chains are entering a “golden era” that is ending or already in decline, as rising operating costs collide with shifting consumer preferences toward more flexible, community-based ways to exercise. Long-term memberships are shrinking, margins are pressured by higher rents and facility expenses, and competition from smaller, more personalized…
