Can Tho City is set to implement four social housing projects on state-managed public land. The projects have detailed approved planning and are included in the independent social housing investment invitation list. Together, they are expected to provide more than 3,580 apartment units to meet housing demand for low-income residents, workers in industrial zones, and other policy beneficiaries.
The largest project is Social Housing Project 004 in Cai Rang Ward. It covers nearly 74,000 square meters of the “Bai Cong Truong 6” land. The project is planned for at least 2,000 apartment units, with an estimated investment of about 3,150 billion VND. However, part of the land area has not yet been compensated and is located within a power-line corridor that needs to be addressed.
In addition to Project 004, Social Housing Project 001 in Thot Not Ward, Project 002 in Vinh Trinh Commune, and Project 003 in Ninh Kieu Ward are also being implemented with significant scale and investment. Each project has its own characteristics, but all share the same goal of providing quality housing for residents.
Under the social housing development plan for the 2026–2030 period, Can Tho aims to complete nearly 15,000 apartments by 2030. This is aligned with national targets for social housing development at the local level and reflects the city’s efforts to improve living standards for residents.
The implementation of these social housing projects is intended to address urgent housing needs while supporting broader socio-economic development in Can Tho, contributing to the city’s goal of building a modern, civilized, and livable urban environment.
